Styrian Dragon is a vibrant and versatile aroma variety bred at the Slovenian Institute of Hop Research and Brewing in Žalec from a sophisticated cross of European and American germplasm.

It represents the bold, new-age spirit of Slovenian hop breeding, combining a strong regional heritage with expressive, high-impact fruit characteristics. Known for its complex chemical profile, including notable levels of farnesene and linalool, it easily cuts through complex malt bills and delivers an intense aromatic punch.

Styrian Dragon is celebrated for its distinctive citrus-floral expression paired with bright tropical tones. While it can contribute clean background bitterness when used early, its greatest brewing value is unlocked through late kettle, whirlpool, or dry-hopping additions. It shines as a standalone variety or within modern hop blends, pairing exceptionally well with varieties like Bobek, Citra, or Styrian Wolf.
